On 27 June 2013 Seiriol Dafydd successfully defended his PhD thesis to his internal examiner Dr Tom Cheesman and external Professor Anne Fuchs (Warwick). Seiriol wrote about ‘Intertextuality and Intercultural Encounters in the Works of Michael Roes’, a German writer living in Berlin who specialises in novels about travel. The viva was chaired by Professor Duncan Large. Seiriol took his BA (2007) and MA (2009) in German at Swansea, scoring the highest marks in both (first class honours and distinction respectively). His PhD was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and based in the Centre for Contemporary German Culture. Seiriol is now working as a freelance translator (Welsh/English/German) in Stuttgart.
