Head of College, Professor John Spurr, announced on 1 July that Ute Keller, who teaches German language in the Department of Languages, Translation and Communication, and co-ordinates the Year Abroad for students of all languages, has won a Vice-Chancellor’s Award ‘in recognition of her truly outstanding dedication to her students’. The Vice Chancellor responded in this unprecedented way after students nominated Ute for a Distinguished Teaching Award for a record third time. Ute’s ability to inspire a passion for the intricacies of communication in German in the full range of social and professional contexts has made her legend at Swansea in the twenty years that she has been teaching here. The Award will be formally conferred at Graduation on 8 July.
