A short film made by a Chinese student at Swansea University has been posted on the web by China’s state newsagency and has received thousands of hits.
Directed by Xiaodan Wu, a student on the MA in Comparative Journalism, the film explores the experiences of a Chinese student arriving at Swansea University and the benefits of studying on the Visiting + 1 programme. The film features a number of interviews with Chinese students discussing their adaption to British university life and the opportunities they’ve been given as international students studying at Swansea.
Xiaodan, herself a participant in the Visiting + 1 programme, was supported in the making of the film by Swansea’s International Development Office and by Peter Jones, Media Production Tutor in the Department of Languages, Translation and Media.
Professor Andrew Rothwell, Head of LTM, commented that ‘the quality of this short film, made by a student with creative and technical help from staff, is a superb model for the kinds of task that our home and international students can be encouraged to undertake in many different areas of the academic curriculum’.
